WE ARE UP TO THE CHALLENGE

In 2007 a customer manufacturing medical device systems needed someone to machine a complex component with a 0.004" through hole (8x deep) with another 0.047" hole running 33x. Their own internal machine shop had not bid the project along with several other potential vendors.

Precision Plus was one of two groups that was even willing to take on the challenge and provided a bid which was less than half of the other proposal. The customer, well aware of the challenge and not wanting to hear we had misquoted the project well into it, asked if we were confident with process engineering and price. We replied yes and provided the PPAP parts within four weeks of the order date.

Functionally the parts performed well, but there were problems with the inspection of the small 0.004" +/- .0005" hole. Working together with the customer, we agreed upon a functional air gauge with corresponding flow limits. What others said could not be done, we did and within budget.
