On April 20th, four students from the Elkhorn Area High School’s (EAHS) SkillsUSA Club and their advisor Mr. Fred Ganter came to Precision Plus and made a presentation to a small group of our employees. They came here to show off their accomplishments and garner financial support for their first-year club.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to create a skilled workforce for America’s future. SkillsUSA helps the students excel by providing educational programs, events, and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in classrooms.
This may be the first year EAHS has had a SkillsUSA group, but it has been a great one! They had 24 students join, but Ganter would love to see that number grow and, “get more students involved in technology and engineering fields.”
Ganter adds that two contestants received placements this first year at the State Conference in April. Ethan Branfort received 3rd Place in the Automotive Technician competition, earning a $3,000 scholarship to UTI, as well as a factory orientation valued at $8,000 from Ford, Chrysler, or GM. Jake Nethery received 1st Place and an opportunity to compete at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, June 20th through 25th.

Precision Plus was definitely impressed by this group of students and agreed to offer support of their efforts in getting our youth involved in STEM fields and careers with their hands-on approach. As always, Precision Plus supports and encourages CTE in our area schools, and on May 17th , presented the EAHS SkillsUSA Club and Mr. Ganter with a check. Here’s to a great first year, and we are looking forward to seeing this group’s future successes.
