IMTS 2016 – By the Numbers
Last week marked another record-breaking show for the International Manufacturing Show (IMTS). The 31st edition of this event took place September 12 through 17 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
IMTS 2016 had the highest number of exhibitors in its history – 2,407 companies. Also, with 115,612 registrants, it was the 3rd largest show for attendees. The exhibits took up 1,370,256 net sq. ft. of space, the 3rd largest area ever!
Not only does the show grow in size every two years, but the reasons for attending multiply. People come to research new technology, to meet and assess potential vendors before purchasing, to find solutions, and to make new contacts with leaders in the manufacturing industry.
Of course, IMTS attendees also come to check out some really cool stuff! The students that attended the Smartforce Student Summit this year can attest to that. The Student Summit at IMTS 2016 attracted a record number of attendees. In fact, more than 17,000 students, parents, and educators visited the Student Summit this year. Precision Plus once again had the pleasure of chartering three coach buses and hosting students from area high schools. The students were amazed, and they were extremely grateful. They were very excited, and returned saying things like, “Truly the best field trip I have even been on,” “I liked how the manufacturers kept the environment in mind when making their products,” and “I never knew so many different ways to make things existed!”
IMTS is already looking ahead to its 32nd show. IMTS 2018 will take place at Chicago’s McCormick Place from September 10th to 15th. Interested exhibitors can visit IMTS.com/exhibitor for a space application.
