Making a Difference: Community Engagement with Precision Plus

Precision Plus has always been committed to promoting the advanced manufacturing industry, as well as finding and developing the next generation of manufacturing professionals. To help strengthen our state’s and country’s economy, we understand the need to find ways to lessen the skills gap in U.S. manufacturing. Furthermore, we find it rewarding to help others discover their passion as they pursue this industry brimming with well-paying and meaningful careers.

Jeff Peterson and Mark Becker, co-founders of Geneva Supply in Delavan, Wisconsin, are doing amazing things for area high school students. They started a non-profit organization called BizTank to build a bridge between employers and students. Local businesses help provide funding for scholarships, technical equipment, and on-topic field trips. Recently, Mike Reader was invited to present at the spring semester BizTank session to approximately 60 high school students, and he was inspired by the students and what they have accomplished. The summer 2018 session begins Wednesday, June 27th. You can learn more about what they’ve been working on and what’s coming up at https://genevasupply.com/biztank/.

The panel of business experts at BizThreeSixty take questions from a full house.

On May 17th, Jeff Peterson and Mark Becker hosted a one-day business conference titled BizThreeSixty. The event was a huge success with over 300 people attending. A wide variety of business professionals were in attendance to learn more about personal branding, leadership, customer experience, the millennial generation, and more. To learn more about upcoming networking opportunities and to catch the highlight video of this last session, visit https://genevasupply.com/bizthreesixty/.

Gateway Technical College graduates at the commencement ceremony on May 15.

Mike Reader was honored to be the keynote speaker for the Gateway Technical College graduation ceremony held May 15th. He was encouraged to see close to 400 technical program graduates walk across the stage, and Mike is confident of the many rewarding opportunities awaiting each of them. Referencing the stigma tied to technical colleges in past years, Mike advised, “Be proud of who you are, the path you have chosen, and never, ever let the perceptions and opinions of others knock you down.” Mike’s speech can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GIBUBTySpU&amp=&feature=youtu.be

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) hosted the ground-breaking for their new $34 million Dwight and Dian Diercks Computational Science Hall in April, and this too will be a game changer for the school and greater community. With the addition of Diercks Hall, as well as its new Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program, MSOE will be positioned at the educational forefront in artificial intelligence, robotics, and other next-generation technologies. Diercks Hall is slated to open in Fall 2019. https://www.hpcwire.com/off-the-wire/msoe-to-break-ground-on-new-facility-for-ai-and-computational-science-education/

Mike Reader addresses the GTC Class of 2018.

Precision Plus encourages all of you to connect with your local schools and ask how you can help young adults explore career opportunities while they are still in high school. It is never too soon to start fostering interest, and in fact, our company also does a lot of work with area middle schools, as well. Without sharing the knowledge we’ve gained and the enthusiasm we have for what we do, how are they to understand all that a manufacturing career can offer? As Mike Reader advised the new graduates at GTC a couple weeks ago, “Give back, pay it forward, and inspire others to do great things.”
