Precision Plus is happy to introduce this summer’s group of interns. We look forward to working alongside this great group of students while giving them meaningful experiences and playing an active role in their hands-on education.
My name is Willow Rutzen, and I’m from East Troy, but I attend Elkhorn Area High School. I plan to go to college to pursue mechanical engineering. Many people think that a shop is no place for a girl, but that is not true. I’ve love spending time in the shop since I was in middle school. Most of my free time is spent working on projects, but I also spend time working with horses. When my shop teacher told me about an internship opportunity at Precision Plus, I jumped at the chance and landed the best job I have ever had! I am treated as an adult here, and the team has helped me learn more about the industry. I’m thankful that they took me on as an apprentice!
Hello, my name is Seth Kraayvanger, and I am from Elkhorn. I was interested in interning with Precision Plus because I wanted to learn more about machining and what happens in the real world. I like to learn new things and play football. In my free time, I enjoy fishing with friends and family, being outside, and working on cars. I am thankful Precision Plus hired me to be a summer intern.
Hello, my name is Samantha Betley, and I am from East Troy. This fall, I will attend UW-Platteville and major in industrial engineering. I took many technical education and shop classes in high school, which was always a lot of fun for me. Those classes helped me discover my interest in engineering. When I was given the opportunity to intern at Precision Plus, I couldn’t pass it up. I knew it would be a great way to get real job experience before I even begin my college courses. What a great way to help me understand what I need to do in my classes to get the most out of my education, as it pertains to my future career. Here at Precision Plus, they give me the advice that I need, and I am learning so much. I am very thankful for this internship!
Hello, I’m Isaac Taylor, and I just graduated from Elkhorn High School. I am an Eagle Scout, and I love the outdoors, woodworking, metalworking, and working with my hands. This is my second year as an intern at Precision Plus, and I enjoy it just as much as my first day! I love learning about all different aspects of the manufacturing industry, and I hope to use the things that I learn here at Precision Plus, not only to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering, but also to be successful in my career choice. I plan to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, in the fall of 2020. Between then and now, I will be serving a two-year, full-time mission for my church. I am really excited for what the future holds, and I can say without a doubt, the internship program at Precision Plus has impacted my future for the better in too many ways to count!
Hello, my name is Colin Kelber, and I go to East Troy High School. In the fall, I plan on attending Gateway Technical College’s CNC Boot Camp and would like to take more classes following that. I enjoy working here at Precision Plus a lot, and I’ve learned so much since I started. It’s great to move around the shop, learning different skills with different machines. So far, I think my favorite is the Tsugami CNC machines. I am so thankful that my school counselor introduced me to this internship program. Everyone here is so willing to help when I need it, and it is a great work environment. I would love to work here as long as possible. My internship at Precison Plus is helping to spark my interest in CNC machining as a career path for my future.
Hello, my name is Kody Lebow, and I attend Delavan-Darien High School. I participate in many activities and even got to go to New York with my choir to perform at Carnegie Hall. I also have played football for two years. My first few days at Precision Plus have been very educational, and everybody who works here has been very helpful when I don’t know how to do something. I have been interested in pursuing a manufacturing job for a while now, and it looks like I found a good one! I can’t wait to see what else is in store for me at Precison Plus!
Hello, my name is Quinlan McDonald from Elkhorn. This fall, I will be attending Gateway Technical College to further my education in CNC. In high school, I took a lot of Advanced Placement classes and a few shop classes. My machining classes are really what piqued my interest in CNC, which lead to my internship at Precision Plus. I enjoy the creative problem solving and the logistics of this job. Precision Plus has a great work atmosphere – everyone is so kind, and I am very excited to work here while continuing my schooling. What a great opportunity.
My name is Ryan Rychlak, and I have been creating computer programs for many years now. My programs range from doing math problems to text-based operating systems. I spend most of my free time snowboarding and playing basketball. Prior to this job, I was a golf caddie and a maintenance worker for my local fair. Through this internship, I hope to learn how software programs are used in real world application. After the internship, I will be finishing high school, with hopes of attending a four-year university.
My name is Anthony Alagna, and I’ve been breaking and fixing computers since I was five. When I’m bored, I like to learn about random things that I know nothing about or have never tried before. During my internship, I hope to learn more about networking, as well as what IT maintenance looks in the real world. Before my internship at Precision Plus, I was a barista for a year and a half. After the summer is over, I hope to have my own IT business up and running, so that I can begin to do that full-time.
Hello, I am Jack Wright, and I spend most of my free time fishing, hunting, or preparing for the two. This summer, I am enlisting in the U.S. Army National Guard and looking forward to what that will bring along with this internship. My goal is to attend UW-Platteville to study Forestry. This internship will be beneficial to me and my love of learning new things and developing new skills. When I complete my internship, I know I will have gained skills and developed values that will help with any career path.
My name is Matt Dowell. I am a graduate of Wilmot Union High School, heading into my fourth and final year at University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I am pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. My hobbies generally fall into the category of making things. I am big into 3D printing, woodworking, and I like to dabble in projects involving microcontrollers. I started with Precision Plus over 4 years ago, as a general intern rotating around the building. I have risen through the ranks to machine operator for two summers, and I am now starting my second summer as an engineering intern. Returning to Precision Plus every summer as an intern offers me new experiences within the building. I have learned so much about the operations of a job shop through my different positions, and getting paid while you learn is a great benefit.
Hello, I am Nick Domenella. I’m currently a mechanical engineering student at Bradley University, and I have two more years until I graduate. I live in Illinois and commute each day to Precision Plus. This is my second internship, and so far, I am learning so much. Internships give a hands-on experience that really can’t be had in a classroom. The projects I have worked on have really helped in developing the skills I will need in the real world, and I think all students should pursue an internship in their field. As for career aspirations, I have a great interest in the fields of robotics, energy, and space travel. In my free time, I enjoy heavy metal, science fiction, and weightlifting.
My name is Josh Rybicki, and I am from Elkhorn. I am a creative person who enjoys art, craftsmanship, and the trades. In my free time, I like to mountain bike, hike, travel, and make things. Eventually, I plan on attending college to pursue a skilled trade. Car body restoration, woodworking, and custom metal machining are areas that really interest me. I know my time at Precision Plus will help me in my career aspirations.
When the summer turns to fall, and it’s time to say goodbye to this group of interns, we know they will take with them invaluable hands-on experience that will positively contribute to their future. We also know that so much more is gained by these internships. In the past, this program has, at times, even helped us develop our own staff. More importantly, these students go out into the world as ambassadors for the advanced manufacturing industry. If your company currently does not have an internship program or any type of outreach program, it’s time to start.
