Precision Plus Invests in Our Team: Promoting Healthy Lifestyle Choices

Precision Plus knows just how important it is to invest in the health of their employees. A healthier, more motivated workforce is a happier, more productive workforce. For quite some time, Precision Plus has been encouraging team members to improve their health and fitness levels and make all-around smart lifestyle choices. There are many ways Precision Plus makes the health of their employees a priority: contracting a full-service wellness provider, choosing an outcomes-based employee insurance plan, providing First Aid and First Responder training, and purchasing an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are just some of the ways we promote healthy choices.

We continue to work with Healics, Inc. of Milwaukee, a nurse-owned and operated company that assists companies with employee wellness programs, biometric screenings, and face-to-face customized services to help people achieve their wellness goals. This past week, nurses from Healics were on-site to conduct our annual biometric screenings. They also offer year-round coaching for employees who wish to learn more about changes or choices they can make to become healthier. Mary Spaight, HR Administrator at Precision Plus, spoke about the rewarding relationship Precision Plus has established with the Healics staff, saying, “Whether offering better nutritional choices, stress management techniques, or different exercise methods, they have been really excellent at reaching out and giving us all good information.”

In recent years, health insurance premiums have risen for everyone, but when Precision Plus contracted with Humana as their insurance carrier, we were able to create some savings with their outcomes-based program. Participants can reach certain goals, and our company is rewarded. When one reaches a certain status level in Humana’s Vitality Program, the company receives a 10% premium reduction for that particular employee. However, Precision Plus passes this along to the employee as a reward for their dedication to the program.

Participants reach the goals of HumanaVitality via biometrics test results and other behaviors that lead to better health. Getting a flu shot or joining the Precision Plus team for a community fun run are examples of how one can earn “Vitality Bucks.” These can be used to buy gift cards, movie tickets, gas cards and more. Humana has also partnered with Wal-mart, where participants can swipe their program membership card to receive discounts for purchasing healthy foods and more. While getting healthier is a reward in itself, the Vitality program allows its participants to reap even more benefits.

Another way Precision Plus promotes workplace wellness is by offering First Aid training for all employees. We believe that First Aid training is an essential part of the workplace, whether for small incidents or larger accidents. A group of Precision Plus employees have also made the huge commitment of completing First Responder training. This dedicated team stepped up when Precision Plus asked if anyone would be interested in undergoing the necessary training to be a certified First Responder. Our Precision Plus Safety Committee will be the first to respond should the need arise, and we appreciate their commitment.

After learning about other companies needing to use AEDs on work premises, Precision Plus purchased a new AED unit, which is now mounted in a central area on the plant floor. After researching, we chose the most user-friendly machine, as this Zoll brand AED even responds to voice commands, making it simple to use in an emergency situation. The Safety Committee has also undergone training for the AED machine. We hope we never have to use it, but having this lifesaving technology ready to use quickly in an emergency, may prove to be crucial someday.

At Precision Plus, we understand that our employees are our most important asset. We encourage our team members to make healthy choices, and we look for ways to help keep them safe. Our team members also have a lot of great ideas, and we will soon offer a Precision Plus portal that will give us a way to communicate with each other via social media. Through our relationships with companies like Healics, continued safety education, rewarding participants for adopting smarter lifestyle choices, and more, it is our goal to keep our team healthy, happy, and motivated.
