Third Annual Reindeer Run of Elkhorn, Wisconsin

Reindeer Run in Elkhorn, WisconsinFor the third consecutive year, Wisconsin’s City of Elkhorn Recreation Department organized “Reindeer Run,” a 5K run/walk for adults, and a 100-yard “Santa Sprint” for kids 12 and under. This fun event took place on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Sunset Park in Elkhorn. Participants and spectators were encouraged to don their favorite ugliest Christmas sweater, and bring non-perishable food items to donate to the local food pantry. Precision Plus (PPI) was a proud sponsor of the event.

This year, several PPI employees organized into a team to participate in the community event. As part of their ongoing wellness initiative, PPI supported the team by reimbursing the $20 entrance fee to any team member who completed the 5K walk/run. Members of the Humana Vitality Program also gained points by finishing the race, and received extra perks for wearing their pedometers. Friends and family were also invited to participate.

It is worth to note that PPI Team Member Dale Wittlieff, Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement, took second place in the contest, receiving these prizes: a homemade blanket, Christmas wrapping paper, and a $15 gift card to Sperino’s Little Italy and Pepperoni Pub.

For early December in Wisconsin, Mother Nature cooperated by providing plenty of sunshine and “warm” temperatures in the 40s. All proceeds from the 5K run/walk and 100-yard sprint went to support the Park Dedication Fund. The event was followed by the annual Christmas Card Town Parade held in downtown Elkhorn.

The PPI Team looks forward to participating in next year’s Reindeer Run…with an even larger team!
